Having major inspirations from New York and Paris, chef and owner Joma Tuano’s adventures in and out of the country has led him to develop a menu composed of continental and Asian cuisines, keeping identities with no fusion. This is what Araullo Gastropub is known for. It’s a story of his travels that narrates a collective of dishes he loves and has now come to share it with us.Araullo Gastropub is one of the restaurants who won the Zomato Foodies’ Choice Award this 2019.Here are my top picks and I recommend you to try these:- Salmon Steak – a fusion of continental and Asian ingredients for a balanced meal. I guess (for me), the sauce underneath the salmon was too overpowering that I cannot taste the salmon anymore.- Ribeye with Steak Rice – to be honest, their steak rice alone is enough for me to be satisfied because it’s tasty. The steak was juicy and tender. I also like how there are some crispy burnt crusts on it. I love itm- Chicken Satay – this chicken has a bit smokey flavor and I like it. The peanut sauce blends well and made it taste better.- Mushroom Pasta – if you love pasta with that truffle flavor, then this is for you. I guess the truffle flavor was too strong when we had it.- Pandan Soufflé – a French dessert with a twist using Philippine ingredient, pandan.- Sisig Taco – flame-burnt pork mask with their version of sisig mayo on tortila bread. It was tasty but the sisig gets chewy/hard easily. The place is spacious and cozy. I love the interiors and the murals. The background music is groovy. If you want to have some time to chill or to unwind from a stressful work, go here.
Before anything this is hands down one of the top 3 sisigs I’ve eaten. Ever. It. Was. Amazing. The mussles in tomato soup was a very hearty very generous serving, I counted 17 shells when I was done, and the tomato soup was wonderfully tomatoey. And it came with a perfectly cooked side of fries. Crispy and just lovely. The steak and eggs was cooked a perfect medium rare, but the cut was a little tough, but this was very enjoyable for the price. One of the eggs was broken though. 🙁 the salad had this very nice balsamic vinegar dressing, but it was a little too tart with the tomato things to add extra sourness, but it was a deliberate paring with the greens i guess, which were very fresh.Everything on the food menu was avaialble for gold, excluding the steaks for sharing, but even without the gold, I would’ve gladly paid full price. This place is so worth it, and as thus far, everything I ordered did not disappoint one bit.Service was fast, waiters courteous, ample parking and security, the ambiance was just a little dark. Will be back, at least twice more. This month.2nd visit – asian steak, sisig, calamari taho3rd visit – steak, sisig, truffle pasta4th visit – ribeye, sisig, seafood pasta, burger, gambas, calamari, steak rice, mashed potatoTruffle pasta – nice subtle pasta flavor but I personally could’ve used a little more creamMashed potato and steak rice are some of the best sides I’ve had anywhere, potato are silky smooth, the steak rice was wonderfully buttertlyThe ribeye came in it’s own au jus, with the fat in deep fried chunks like a beefy chicharon, pair this with the rice! The seafood pasta was a good balance between the richness of seafood and the cutting acidity of tomatoThe Gambas was decidedly average on its own, but heap the garlic bits and oil on it with the bread to elevate this simple dishThe burger was a little dry, but there’s some fault on our end for requesting medium well.
