One of the reasons why Hubby and I used to love staying at Marriott was their breakfast buffet. It was one of our fave breakfast buffets but in our most recent stay, we were quite disappointed. We woke up early, as is usual for us whenever we’re staying at a hotel since we don’t want to join the crowd when having breakfast. So we were still quite groggy from a late night and we just wanted to sit down, have our coffee and breakfast, then go back to sleep. Sadly, Marriott Cafe’s receptionist wouldn’t let us in the dining area. We arrived 6:15am thinking that breakfast was served at 6am and we were being asked to wait at the lobby until it was 6:30am to try again. It would’ve been acceptable if we didn’t see that they seated some guests in already. The other guests might’ve not been eating yet and just waiting for the time the buffet would be ready but isn’t it supposed to be a standard that you treat all guests the same? To think that we have loyalty membership with Marriott and we were the ones being turned away. We pointed out the other guests and we were eventually seated because of that. We were served our coffee then subsequently told that buffet was then open. The experience dampened our mood and we weren’t able to enjoy our breakfast much and hubby’s not very happy to the point of saying that he doesn’t want to go back again. Food was ok but not as good a spread as before. Would’ve welcomed some Chinese dimsums. Juices and cereals variety were ok. Chicken Tocino’s color was a bit unnatural, not very appetizing for me. Fried Danggit and Pusit were very good. Cooked well, crispy and thin. Just a tad bit bitter on some overcooked ones but generally ok. Ambiance was on point. Servers were polite and nice but would’ve been a plus point if they serve or offer water without having to request for it time after time.
I don’t think you will lack for anything – fresh seafood cooked whichever way you want, heaps of meat (the carving table is overflowing with roasted and grilled beef, pork, chicken, duck), breads and cheeses, international cuisines also represented (European, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and more.Juices, cocktails, tea and coffee also available (soda is extra). The desserts, oh wow! The bread pudding was amazing, just rendered me speechless. Pies, cakes, mousses and gelato are plentiful, perfect in ending your belly-busting meal. The Marriott cafe’s Sunday brunch is definitely worth every peso. Come with your family, a perfect way to spend Sunday morning. 🙂
We went for the barrels of the sea which includes a lot of fresh seafood for their buffet. It is not the biggest buffet where every culinary is represented. However, everything you want(need) is probably found here, specially if you are a seafood lover!Seafood quality is superb! It is so fresh the prawns peels easily, is very crunchy, and a bit sweet. There are live mudcrabs and it’s eat all you can whoch is amazing! You can have your seafood cooked the way you want. My top choices are the sweet chili and the chili garlic. However, there are some inconsistencies to their paluto as I’ve noticed that on the latter part of our meal, their chili garlic was not cooked as good.. the crabs breading looked pale and tasted a bit bland already, their garlic butter lacks seasoning as well.Overall still a great experience as you get really fresh seafood for a buffet..
