I finally tried the restaurant I pass everyday. The reasons why I never try this before are first, I really don’t like the grilling pan that they’re using and second, they don’t have enough exhaust fans. And today, finally, together with some colleagues, we had our lunch here. The place was not packed as usual. I went straight to the food on display and took pictures. To my surprise, I saw mostly Filipino dishes on the table. I was confused if they’re only offering korean cusine or a combination of different cuisines. We had Samgyeopsal and everything on display. The quality of meat didn’t reach my expectation. The beef was thickly cut and not of high quality. The lettuce wraps were not fresh. Their kimchi was unique as that was my first time to have kimchi with big pork cuts in it. I love the marinated pork, the only thing I enjoyed eating. The rest was just okay. They only have few staff in the dining area. It’s a self-service restaurant, I believe, based on experience. Overall, it was a nice try. If ask to return here again, hmmm, maybe, if someone will treat me again. I don’t want to spend my own money here.
I’ve been to Mr. Don maybe 5 times in the last 2 years. The first few times it was good. They had a nice ala carte menu with various Korean dishes and even some Japanese items. But now it has changed to an all you can eat buffet. The quality has gone downhill. Tried the buffet once, won’t try it again.
Korean food is always a welcome adventure for me and my daughter. Mr. Don just happened to be across my daughter’s flat and last night we decided to try it. The place had a friendly open ambiance and the staff were very helpful and attentive. One of the ladies discussed the menu and our choices which of course included the traditional Korean favorites. She suggested we try the AYCE (all-you-can-eat) variants which included meat, greens and salads, egg omelette, vegies, kimchi, miso vegie soup and iced tea. Everything was fresh and sumptuous and cooking and eating it from the grill was fun. For p480 per person, and having all the seconds and thirds we wanted—it had been all worth it. They serve alcohol like soju and Korean ice cream too but there was just no room for dessert for us. Another great thing is that they do not charge for service but we figured that the attentive staff deserved the tip anyways! Just a walk when we are working up a Korean appetite, a trip back to Mr. Don will definitely happen!
Been a customer of mr don since its opening since i just live nearby. I always order 2 samgyups for 480 pesos and a rice. They give you unlimited sidedishes and a good soup with spinach, tofu, zuccini and pork. Waitresses will not hesitate to refill your sidedishes and your greens. They also offer makis and unli meat grillings. As of this writing the prices in their menu changed a bit higher.
