Maximus is not just for bike lovers but for those who want good food as well. The place is cozy and exudes this homey feel. It is a huge place that was obviously designed with much love. It is a feast for all of your senses as a whole. Such a lovely ambiance with beautiful bikes for your sight. Relaxing music playing at the background. The smell of freshly brewed coffee. Delicious and unique food and coffee to taste. Cold or warm, satisfying feel of the cup as you sip your favourite drink. Truly a unique and enjoyable place to to visit over and over again.

Located right smack inside SPARTA, a one-stop sports, lifestyle and wellness center built for the highly competitive athlete, is Maximus Triathlete Shop and Cafe. You can now enjoy specialty coffee + shopping for multi-sport gear under one roof! Owned by Coach Andy Leuterio, his wife and another business partner, this place is named after Leuterio’s handsome 6-year old, Maximus Spartacus. The place is a product of a dream.. A dream project combining Coach Andy’s love for bikes, good food and coffee. Taking inspiration from top western cycling cafes, they came up with their store which houses quality bikes complete with a bike fit and coaching studio, a bike spa, swimming and running gear, and of course, specialty coffee! I’m no athlete but I love meeting people who are very passionate in the things that they do. Coach Andy is definitely one passionate man. You’ll know once you get to talk to him. Visiting Maximus is like revisiting my childhood.. It was pure nostalgia flashing images in my head when I used to bike around the village with my cousin (Remember the freedom, fun and sense of accomplishment your first bike gave you? Yes, that feeling!).. The difference is, the bikes found here are incomparable to the ones my cousin and I had back when we were young! This place houses the best brands in the business like Specialized, Lynskey, super cute Tokyo Bikes, Knight Composites, State Bicycles, Go Pro, Oakley, Garmin and so much more! I love it!After a short yet very informative and interesting tour of the place (Thanks Coach Andy!), we got to finally try their specialty coffee and food. We were served with their Aligue Pasta, Puttanesca, Spanish Sardines Grilled Sandwich, Spanish Chorizo Sandwich, Blueberry Cheesecake, Red Velvet and Chocolate Cake. The food were all equally great – something which both athletes and non-athletes would enjoy! Super hearty. Its awesome!Maximus also has its own brew and espresso bar for discerning coffee connoisseurs (like our foodie friend who came with us Chef Jay’s Kitchen). They source their beans from EDSA Beverage Design Group and Bean & Barley. Coach Andy took a special coffee course and is now a certified professional barista together with his business partner. They also sell quality brewing equipment from Hario for budding coffee connoisseurs. We sampled their latte, pour over ethiopia and dark matter strawberry cold brew and they were all perfect. No doubt my brother, who is also an athlete + coffee addict would love it here! Ahhh, I cant wait to be back!! Dont be the last to know! Visit this hidden gem located at 126 Pioneer Street, Mandaluyong City! *Thank you Maximus Athlete’s Coffee Shop for having us!* Foodie Day Out Jovijovijovi CateyPerryAlwaysHungry Phylicia Marie Pineda Andy Leuterio

Maximus Athlete’s Store Cafe is located inside the Sparta Complex along Pioneer St. in Mandaluyong City. The complex has various warehouse type shops and outlet stores. Maximus Athelete’s Store sells bikes, swimming and running gear and equipment. Inside is also a cafe that serves hot and cold beverages as well as pasta, sandwiches and pastries.Don’t be fooled by the spartan sign and outer appearance of Maximus Athlete’s Store Cafe; the store cafe interiors is very well decorated in a modern industrial design. The setup involves a cafe that is seamlessly integrated in the modern layout store. There is a portion that has a second floor for more display space. Definitely a great ambiance for both store and cafe customers. Maximus Athlete’s Store Cafe is the brainchild of couples Andy and Sheryl. Coach Andy is a triathlon coach and a sports marketing consultant. Their initial plan to start a store with a coffee machine for the customers evolved into the store cafe with a full on coffee shop that they have today. To be able to compete in the tough coffee shop market, they decided to learn about the intricacies of coffee and eventually focused on single origin brews and also the various techniques of brewing like cold press and pour over. The food is good and well prepared. It is a great addition to their coffee offerings for those who need a quick bite or some merienda. Their Pasta Aligue is quite good, the aligue taste is definitely there but it’s not too heavy to the point of umay. Among the sandwiches, I liked the chorizo grilled sandwich best but the sardine sandwich was also okay. All the cakes were equally okay for me because they were tasty enough and aren’t too sweet; excellent to pair with their coffee. Here are photos of the various pasta, sandwiches and pastries that we tried.PASTAPasta AliguePuttanescaSANDWICHESSpanish Sardine Grilled SandwichSpanish Chorizo Grilled SandwichPASTRIESBlueberry CheesecakeRed Velvet CakeChocolate CakeNow to their main offering.. the coffee! I love coffee and drink it black but it was my first time to try really awesome coffee. Everything else I tried had varying strength and smell but these freshly roasted beans had flavor that I have never experienced before! They showed us the Pour Over method of brewing the Ethiopia Sidamo Hunkute coffee beans which resulted in this lovely coffee with less acidity and this wonderful jasmine flavor. We also tried the Cappuccino and the cold Dark Matter Strawberry Blast; both were pretty good as well!A great place for athletes, foodies and coffee lovers to hang out! A spacious ambiance, different and much more relaxed than the regular crowded and noisy coffee shop. Definitely a hidden gem in the Pioneer area! snapsnstories.blogspot.com

Maximus Athlete’s Shop Cafe is a cycling, sports concept store and a cafe in one. Usually with concept cafes, the F&B part is subpar to the retail. In this case though, Maximus takes pride in carrying top of the line sporting goods, as well as offering the best in coffee. Even if you aren’t a cyclist, you’d still troop to the cafe for their single origin coffee.Highly recommended: Dark Matter Strawberry Blast, Aligue Pasta, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Spartacus blend for their coffeeWhat we tried:~Aligue Pasta – You can taste the crab fat without it overwhelming the dish. a small squeeze of lemon also helps cut the grease, and balances the flavors~Puttanesca Pasta – simple italian pasta with olives and tomatoes~Chorizo Sandwich – both this and the sardines sadwich had feta, cream cheese, and mozzarella, plus veggies like tomatoes onions and lettuce. I like how the chorizo was savory but not overly spiced.~Spanish Sardines Sandwich – same with the previous sandwich, just switch the sardines for the chorizo~Blueberry Cheesecake – small but yummy. I could still taste the cream cheese even with the heavy cream, with a nice buttery graham crust~Moist Chocolate Cake – it really was moist, and very rich. none of their cakes were too sweet, and each one perfect to pair with coffee~Red Velvet Cake – the cream cheese icing wasn’t heavy at all.~Ethiopia Pour Over Coffee – black coffee with fruity notes~Cappuccino – they can do latte art on it~Dark Matter Strawberry Blast – like the milkshake version of strawberry flavored coffee, very refreshing and perfect for the weatherThe pricing is generally cheaper than in most craft coffee establishments, and the ambiance cozy. It’s definitely worth a trip up north.Do check out my full review on the blog! phyliciamarie.com

Take your coffee experience further and experience this coffee shop gem! Hidden in what seems like a warehouse along Pioneer, I was nearly doubtful of where my college best friend was taking me. Seriously, you will enter a large factory like ambiance. Seeing trucks is not unusual as this cool coffee hub is tucked away in a compound of retail giants. But don’t judge the book by its cover, despite its quite unappealing exterior is a very beautifully curated interior of Maximus.I was told that the owner was a bike enthusiast. And if you love biking, you will definitely love this place. But let me focus on their offerings before I discuss further about their interiors. They have great coffees! The one I ordered was Affogato with Vanilla Ice Cream. The wild caffeine kick matched with the sweetness of ice cream is a delightful combination. My friend ended up ordering the strawberry banana shake. The combination is refreshing and the sweetness level is just perfection.Since we weren’t too hungry, we decided to share a sandwich. It’s was pretty tasty but nothing special. The owner decided to treat us to a brew of their house coffee. I was told they use medium brown beans – meaning they’re not too dark or overcooked. He served it in whisky glasses and the aroma is amazing! The taste was not too overwhelming too. It’s not the Uber bitter taste which I don’t like.On my next visit, I would like to try their dessert offerings! As for the rest of considerations, they have great staff. They serve really fast! They have a bike, bike accessories and repair shop too! I’m not a big fan of bikes, heck I don’t even know how to ride one, but I assume, this is what bikers heaven must feel like!Nevertheless, it’s a great place to visit! The food is good and prices are average.
