What i really enjoyed here is their extra huge chunky cookies along with their famous salted coffee – just the perfect pair! At first I thought it would just be another coffee shop but the fact that their coffee comes from italy, coffee is quite bold and aromatic and they make a special attention into preparation.Pastries, breads and cakes are available and if you are in for some savory snacks, they have cheese platter and cold cuts and sandwiches.Im definitely coming back to get some more of those salted coffee!!
Lovely cafe with great coffee, good food and good takeout goodies! Prices are rather high but quality is commensurate with the price. We had their signature Mediterranean Salt Cold Brew Coffee. Great tasting! Also had the Gran Cappucino – espresso with steamed milk foam. Four Cheese flatbread was yummy – with high quality mozzarella, fontina, gorgonzola and Grana Padano. Truffle Cheese Toast on baguette was ok.We took out some excellent coffee caramel drops and chocolate coated coffee nuts from Rome’s Sant Eustacio Il Caffe
Located near the escalators of the NEW One Bonifacio High Street mall across Shangri-La The Fort, Moka is a great coffee hideaway for those looking for good coffee without the drama. They serve coffee beans straight from the celebrated Sant’Eustachio il Caffe’ of Italy. It was great timing that we get to try Moka during International Coffee Day. Some of the featured pastries i enjoyed are the following: Choux au craqueline with white chocolate vanilla – small cream puff pastry with a generous white chocolate scream center. Best paired with black coffee.Chocolate cake – layers of chocolate cake, thick chocolate ganachem Surprisingly not too sweet.Matcha cookie, double chocolate cookie – cookies so big it can be your afternoon snack and dinner dessert all on the same go! For less than 200pesos, it is a sulit purchase considering how big the cookie is and the quality ingredients used. I can taste chunks of nuts and chocolate alternating in each bite.Drinks: Tiramisu Espresso – drink straight and do not mix. Let the coffee punch through the tiramisu cream and blend with the sweetness that way.MUST! Mediterranean Salt Coffee – a unique concoction only to be had at Moka. If there is one coffee creation to try, this is it. Slight, tinge of saltiness, thick cream. This is a nice afternoon drink to enjoy while enjoying the staff make you sandwich by the open bakery set up. SOON ON THE MENU! Truffle Grilled Cheese Baguette Sandwich, Pimiento, Mozarella & Farmer’s Ham Focaccia Sandwich.DAILY! Vinno Notte! Wine and Cheese all you can for as low as 798pesos, premium for 998pesos. From 5pm to 8pm.Recommended must drink place in BGC.
Last week, on International Coffee Day, was thrilled to spend the afternoon with fellow foodies trying out the newest cafe in One Bonifacio High Street mall called Moka, a sister company of well known Italian cafe Sant’Eustachio in Rome.I’m actually content with my Starbucks coffee but I was delightfully surprised at the things I learned during my visit to Moka. First, Moka cafe’s name comes from the Moka pot, “a stove-top or electric coffee maker that brews coffee by passing boiling water pressurized by steam through ground coffee.” I’ve seen one before (google Moka pot for photo) but I didn’t know that was what it was called! Next and most important of all is that they serve coffee made from Sant’Eustachio il Caffe in Rome, Italy which if you google the place, praises like “Rome’s finest” and “best coffee in the world” will appear. Grateful to establishments like this who try to bring something new (and legit!) to Manila and I don’t have to go to Italy to try it! It’s also comforting to know they bake their own breads and pastries in-shop daily so you can be assured of the freshness. On to my favorites:1. A must try is their Salt Coffee! Don’t mix it, just drink as is and don’t mind the mustache foam after (take a selfie for fun!). It’s a cold brew topped with Mediterranean salt cream. So good! And unique to Moka cafe. (If you want something stronger, try the Tiramisu Espresso).2. The cream puff, cookies and chocolate cake were all divine. All 3 would be perfect with a cup of coffee (hot or cold). The cream puff is pillowy with a light creamy filling, not too sweet and that almond crunch topping is so good (can I have a whole bag if it???). The chocolate cake is deliciously moist. And the cookies are massive, crunchy outside and chewy inside and they don’t scrimp on the ingredients like the chocolate chips and nuts so still value for money despite it being a bit pricey for a cookie (around ₱180@).3. They’re still launching the sandwiches very soon but we got to try the Truffle Grilled Cheese and I loved it and will definitely be coming back for it. It’s made with their homemade baguette which I love – crunchy outside, still soft & chewy inside.4. They have a promo daily for unli wine with unli cheese (yes!) from 5-8pm: ₱798 regular and ₱998 for premium wines. The place is small though but don’t worry they have tables and chairs around/ outside the store that an accommodate more guests.
