I came with high expectations because a colleague of mine raved to no end about Tsuta’s shoyu ramen. BF and I dined here around 2pm on a Saturday and there was only 1 customer (aside from us). The service was just okay. We ordered Konbo 1 (a Booky BOGO deal) so everything in the photos were just P549. The ramen had half serving only. I shouldn’t really be complaining because for 2 sets that was already cheap, but I’m deeply underwhelmed with the shoyu ramen. The noodles were bland, while the broth was watery. In short, hindi siya masarap. The gyoza and matcha dessert were the only saving grace to our meal.
For a highly regarded place, Tsuta doesn’t seem to be attracting many crowds in its manila branch, we went here for Saturday dinner and had no problem getting a seat, and it doesn’t seem like you’ll have a hard time getting a seat any time here. I tried their duck ramen, and it was alright, it’s closer to tonkotsu than their signature ramen which is a light shoyu. I think there could be more duck flavor though, and the duck meat could be more tender, but this is definitely something you can’t find somewhere else. Their signature shoyu is good, and I do think I prefer a lighter ramen like it compared to all the tonkotsu ramens all over the metro. However, it is quite pricey compared to all the others available, when making it 4 slices of chasu instead of 1 gives it a 50% price jump
