As much as we love eating ice cream, sometimes it’s too much of a good, dairy-rich thing. Bingsu is refreshing on a hot day but it’s also great to be had on a rainy day. Since we were craving for it, it was nice to find KBingsu Cafe in Promenade, Greenhills. This spot serves the famous shaved ice dessert from Korea. They offer different kinds of flavor like Berry Berry, Banana Mango and Choco Green Tea. We opted to share Banana Mango and liked it! Our bowl of bingsu consisted of a pile of roughly shaved ice neatly topped with sliced bananas and mangoes. The warm sweetness from the fruits, coupled with the crumble topping and milk, was just impossible to savor with one bite. We just stuck our spoons and got our fair share to eat it, as we don’t prefer mixing it. It took long before the pile of ingredients deflate, which resulted to a chunky, fruits, icy soup. Overall, bingsu is a cool and satisfying dessert that’s substantial without being rich. With all its different components, it won’t bore your taste buds. The one we ordered was a simpler concoctions over ones we’ve tried before. It was good but not great compared to chunkier bingsu that’s studded with various morsels and nubbins for an extremely gratifying mouthful of sweet, creamy, refreshing dessert. rochkirstin.com
I got the regular sized Mango Cheese, which could work for 2 people. It had more mangoes and cheese than expected since there were more layers of it below. It was too sweet though.
We’ve been regular customers here ever since they’ve opened but lately we’ve noticed how the toppings have significantly lessened! We always get their mango and cheese bingsu but most of the toppings are what you see from the outside and barely anything inside! We’re paying P350 just for ice and a few pieces of mango and cheese. Not worth it in our opinion.
