Yumi has been on my list of places to go. I have gotten and read some reviews that they have a good selection of chirashi bowls as well as uni/sea urchin. I am a sucker for uni plus seeing Yumi on a food discount app, I had to go.I forgot which chirashi I ordered. All I know it was one of the ones with uni of course. Sadly, there was no uni, so I had the option of substituting it with maguro/tuna. I also originally planned to order Uni Pasta, but that obviously didn’t happen. Instead I ordered Soft Shell Crab Tempura. I will admit that I was a little bummed, but not so much. I a man also a sucker for soft shell crab, and was more than happy to see it as a tempura option on the menu, as not a lot of Japanese places have it.The chirashi bowl was very good. The sashimi was flavourful and not at all fishy. The vinegared sushi rice had a nice tang that balanced well with the pink sugar. Honestly, I prefer the tanginess being there and strong, than being short and no flavour for the rice, and only tasting sweet pink sugar. Definitely in my top 5 of places to eat chirashi bowls. The soft shell crab tempura was quite surprising when it was served to me. The portion was huge, and actually good for 2. I admit that even if I was dining alone, I was able to finish it because it was super delicious. The breading was just right—light and crisp. I could still taste a lot of the crab, and it was truly oishi!Food: 4.5 – Oishi! Just really was craving for uni.Price: 4.0 – Pricing seemed a little steep. Thanks to a food app though, I was able to get a good discount.Service: 5.0 – Friendly staff. They communicated clearly what could be substituted with the sushi chef.Ambience: 3.5 – The place seemed dark and dreary to me. Brighter lights would be nice.Yumi has a very big menu. I will most certainly come back to try other dishes and pray that uni will be in stock.
Staff are very friendly and accomodating and they knew us already. Food is good everytime we go there especially the salmon sashimi, salmon with cheese and dalandan juice. Everything is fresh.

Very tasty Japanese food! Worth the price of the food and the service is very good and fast. Would definitely come back soon!! A must try is the tempura bento box, very sulit and the servings are really big.
Going at the restaurant itself is kind of tricky in a way ‘coz if you do not see or notice the stairs, you will not be able to dine here. When I went up, it was a bit dark. There were few diners. So, I did ask about their rice meals and I ended up ordering Sukiyakidon. I kind of expected that my order will take a while ‘coz I also saw how slow the service was to other customers. The rice they used is different from those I usually have and it was heavy that I was not able to finish it. While the chicken is bland but since there was pepper on the side, I just sprinkled some to the chicken.
Its location is a bit tricky, above the cinemas and without direction on how to get here. Although Yumi’s spread has novelty due to combinations of American in Japanese, its taste was nothing unusually different. It’s pricey but not justified. We shared Sashimi Platter (Php 700). It was fresh, chilled just right but its portion too small for the price you’ll shell out. The Smoked Salmon Salad was good enough, a nice addition to the menu for pescatarians. Chicken Teppan, one of their many teppanyaki offerings was quite disappointing. Its flavor was on point but its portion had barely has any meat in it, mostly skin. I paired it with their Cauliflower Chahan. My friends and I also shared a bowl of Shoyu Ramen. This one turned out to be carb and sodium-rich not worth having. The only thing I liked was the complimentary cake they served. It was a moist and fudgy dark chocolate lava cake paired with sweet vanilla ice cream. Oh, a worthy note. We got a bottle of chardonnay for free as well since we spent more than Php 1,500. alwayshungry.ph
I was disappointed and dissatisfied as the ramen broth is bland and the staff wasn’t that accommodating. It’s not worth the price. I hope they improve their services
