Layers of mango goodness and freshness in a cup!If you love mango and cold refreshing drinks then this is the place for you.Their store is so cute and bursting with beautiful pastel yellow color which would surely make you feel happy. On the wall of their store, you could even read the history of Hui Lau Shan. This is a store that originated in Hong Kong and they import Philippine mangoes. So now they are finally in the motherland of their key ingredient. I tried their mango & pomelo with sago, this one is so good! Never did I thought that mango & pomelo would go so well. They don’t use dairy for their drinks, instead they use coconut milk which adds more dept to the flavor. Their brown sugar milk tea with mini chewy balls is also good, they use mini mochi instead of boba or pearls. Hui Lau Shan offers unique combination of ingredients on their drinks, the store is also cute and not crowded plus the staffs are very friendly too.
Got the Mixed Fruit Oolong Tea. In this unending milk tea craze, I thrive in fruit teas and this is the first time I have encountered such an interesting fruit tea menu. What I liked is that they really had a lot fresh of fruits. The lady who served the drink also told me that they had no strawberries available but put in more of the other fruits as substitute. What I hoped though is that it blended more so that it doesn’t just taste like oolong tea with fruits in it. I think that was a missed opportunity. Also liked that the container seems sturdy and might be reused at home.
I ordered their newest Brown Sugar Milk (P120.00/18oz). It was sweet but at the same time, the taste of the milk was still there. It was balanced for me. One weird thing is the pearl they used. Their version is small, chewy & sticky. It was unique at least. The place is clean and cute.
New hui lao shan popping up everywhere including one at the atrium sm megamall. Not everyone is as fond of such here in the Philippines but hui lao shan’s are all a big chain in Hong Kong where queues can always be seen. So far decent but the taste is slightly different vs the one in Hong Kong. Service crew needs more training, did not have any spare, loose change for clients!
Quite surprised with their quality, the prices are on the higher end but definitely worth trying. We ordered their mango cheese cap drink and the sample platter. The best one was the fresh mango and mango mochi! Really soft and fresh tasting. The only down side was that we got served sour cream cheese topping to our drink, but the staff quickly changed it and it was all good.
