Encima Roofdeck Restaurant offers Texas-Mexican cuisines.I like the relaxing ambiance, though it’s quite hot if you dine in the afternoon. Since it’s on a roofdeck, you’ll enjoy the view of Makati. It has a swimming pool as well. Service is friendly.Encima Roofdeck Restaurant launched their Churrasco Platters and it comes in three variants:- Salmon Churrasco (P1,599.00)- Chicken Churrasco (P899.00)- Ribs Churrasco (P999.00)Each platter is served with tacos, homemade Tamales, and special dips and sauces. Each set is good for 2 persons.I like the Salmon Churrasco even without the special sauces. I like it more when I poured some lemon. My next favorite would be the Ribs Churrasco. Though it’s not that fork-tender when we ate it, the sweet barbequish glaze added flavors to it. It has that smoky flavor as well. The chicken is quite hard I guess. Don’t forget to try their homemade Tamales and drink some cocktails as well. They have a happy hour too.
When asked what cuisines I prefer, I normally include Mexican (together with Japanese, Chinese and Thai, amongst the few). Why? Because aside from the food, I love that fact that Mexican restaurants are festive, colorful, with servers in warm colored uniforms (with interesting props) and with Spanish music blaring.Sadly, none was present at Encima. The place is drab (the servers’ uniforms are black!). Devoid of any activities slash excitement. In short, Encima is one dead place. Nothing in Encima would make me (or any non-hotel guests) come back. Probably, only the food.If the ambience is non-existent, some of the food might be able to lure foodies to try Encima with Chicken Chimichangga leading the pack (but please, that “musical presentation” should be forever banned or at least, improved!). The Salmon Mexican was also a stand out with that Beef and Shrimp trailing behind. On the other hand, the Tex-Mex BBQ Chicken and the Chili Pork Ribs were, like the ambience, drearily dull. The color of these two dishes didn’t look appetizing at all (it looked like pulutan prepared in a seedy, not-so-expensive beerhouse).Question. What makes the Pizza Mexicana, Mexican? Except for the taco bits scattered around the crust, NADA. The Pizza Mexicana looked so ordinary, tasted so typical that it was a few steps to pathetic. How about the drinks served? The Pink Lady was interesting, that’s it. Even the iced tea was a universe away from being called special.Sayang, is the word that I would to describe Encima. Of course, I can be wrong in my personal assessment (I have a higher expectations for restaurants located in hotels and more merciful to the stand-alone ones). Good luck.
Do you like Tex-Mex Food? Do you go out for some beer or have cocktails instead? Do you like to try new alcoholic beverages mixes? Or have your favorite drinks like coffee and tea infused with liquors? Then you should visit ENCIMA ROOFDECK RESTAURANT at the SP floor of City Garden Hotel in Makati Ave, Makati City. This alfresco restaurant is adjacent to the swimming pool of the hotel (most probably could only be used by guests), an open area where you can have some groovy music, good food and great cocktails. The place could probably accommodate 20-30 persons, who can freely see the city and the Makati city traffic haha. If you want to have some chill nights with your family and friends, it is better to call for reservations. Here are the must try dishes that we had:Chicken Chimichangga 3/5- its my first time to have this kind of food, its like a burrito or big lumpia with all the ingredients mixed in it with lotsa different spices.Beef and Shrimps 4/5- Beef was tender and cooked just right, shrimp was also good but could have served more.Tex-Mex BBQ Chicken 3/5- Chicken was tender and flavorful, could be better with bigger serving size.Salmon Mexicana 4/5- I really like the toppings that came with it. Presentation could be improved to distinguish the salmon hehe.Pizza Mexicana 5/5- a colorful and flavorful pizza perfect for the cocktails.Chili Pork Ribs 4/5- Tender and savory meat perfect for the mexican fried rice.Pancho Ranquette 3/5- spicy chicken wings, nachos and green pepper spring rolls that would partner your favorite cocktails and beer.NachosBaked PotatoButtered Veggies and side dishesFor the drinks:Charming Mexican Stinger 4/5- alcoholic milk tea with brown sugar pearls.Sweet Scorpion Shot 4/5- tangy hot liquor drinkMinty Rose Shandy 4/5- alcoholic coffee perfect for a coffee and liquor lover like me hehe.Pink Lady 5/5- this is recommended for those who just like light cocktails, literally a lady’s drink.House Margarita 5/5- this is for stronger ladies.Do not forget their Rainy Season Promo until October 2019.And their HAPPY HOUR starting 4pm DAILY, you can enjoy your favorite drinks like the pink lady and house margarita for only Php 99 and for the alcoholic shots for Php50!See you all there!ENCIMA ROOFDECK RESTAURANTCity Garden Hotel, Makati Ave,Makati City…@zomatoph #zomatoph#encimaroofdeckrestaurant#kwenthoughtelling #pauoiefoodandlife#foodandlife #welovetoeatph #Mexicancuisine #texmexfood #texmexcuisine #asiancuisine pauoiefoodandlife.wordpress.com
View is fantastic, sangria and mocktails also tasted good, ideal for late night drinks with friends, the menu could use a bit more options because almost all of the dishes tastes the same, but if you want a great and festive view by the pool and Makati skyline you can consider this place
