For such a small restaurant, the breakfast buffet offering they had was quite sizable. Of course, it can’t compare to bigger hotels with bigger restaurants and therefore bigger breakfast buffets, but the variety offered by Restaurant 5 is what you could expect from a business hotel. There are savory stuff and sweet cereals, a selection of cheeses and bread, juices, yogurts, and even rice and vegetables that are not typical breakfast fare. The coffee they served was quite good too. It’s best to come as early as you can (breakfast starts at 6am) so you could enjoy the peace and quiet (difficult to do once the breakfast crowd starts coming in around 8am) and so that you can have first dibs on everything.
Love the food selections! Price is quite reasonable (₱864 inclusive of taxes & service charges). The food tastes great! One thing that needs improvement is the table layout. It’s crowded & makes it hard to pass thru tables (especially for us where we’re seated at the very far hidden corner). Servers are very attentive & even with the crowd they are able to service you within reasonable time.
So they called their restaurant five because it’s on the fifth floor? With so many food establishments left and right, names get harder to come by. For almost Php 900 with taxes, their breakfast buffet doesn’t ring a 5 star rating either. There are quantity selections but not one you will rave about and tell your loved ones to try. The picks are common. Only one dish stood out in my opinion, the Lentils. It has a flavor that last and a spicy kick that is welcomed. This is beside their soup. I also enjoyed their Chicken Macaroni Soup and their version of Roasted Chicken. I love that meat and this one was marinated well. The flavor is deep. Desserts not much choices except for pancakes and seasonal fruits. Only one cooking station, could use another one. More Filipino breakfast options. Better bacon too, they were not crispy at all. alwayshungry.ph
Love Restaurant 5 when it comes to Hotel Buffet Breakfast. Their buffet spread is so varied and there are lots to choose from. I can’t think of anything that stands out but as far as I remember I loved everything I saw when I scanned the dishes. I think the area which stood out for me was their pancake area, there are warm pancakes and waffles all ready to put on my plate, plus the different fruit toppings, syrups and jams. They also have these muffins and different kinds of cheese! tweenselmom.com
We were at Discovery Suites and we were told that they had a lunch buffet until 2:30pm for only Php795++ per person. Of course, we said yes!The buffet was at Restaurant 5, located at the 5th floor of Discovery Suites. The food presentation was awesome but there wasn’t much variety so I was expecting that the food would taste great. Apparently, I was wrong. The beef was too salty, the fish fillet was too hard (probably cooked more than an hour ago), and the soup was horrible. For dessert, they had a few cakes which were so-so, and a few fruits (pineapple and papaya, the watermelon ran out). The food was extremely disappointing. One of my friends asked if the buffet came with a drink, and the server answered that they had iced tea. He then came back with a glass of iced tea for each of us.The bill came and we were quite surprised that the rate from Php795 became a little over Php1000 per person because of the addition of VAT, service charge, and local tax. It would’ve been okay if the food was great, but sadly, it wasn’t worth it. We were also charged for iced tea which was Php150 per glass, when in fact, we just ASKED if the buffet lunch came with any beverage. We weren’t even informed that we would be charged extra if we ordered iced tea.Disappointing food. Bad customer service. This restaurant is NOT recommended.
We had our company christmas party in Restaurant 5 and the food was delicious! I’m not quite sure if the food available during the party is something that they serve ala carte or in the buffet offering. My favourites were the salmon (sorry forgot what the dish was called), turkey in white cranberry sauce and their salad that had fish on it (i think they used dory). I guess if you’re looking for a place to hold parties or intimate gathering with family, i highly recommend restaurant 5.
Restaurant 5 on the fifth floor of Discovery Suites has a daily lunch buffet at slightly less than P1,000. I had a GC for two and decided to sample their thematic Asian buffets, one for every weekday (Filipino, Thai, Vietnamese, Singaporean, etc). The day we visited happened to offer Singaporean – and the selection was not bad. You can make your own salad combo with ingredients like pomelo, mango, dilis fish, shrimp and thin rice noodles. Pick from three kinds of dressings and they will offer to mix it up for you. There is the requisite satay, which they barbecue upon request, and steamed Singaporean/Hainan chicken with ginger. I decided to bypass these for a delicious beef rendang, made with lots of grated lemongrass and stewed till tender and some grilled chicken. My friend said the shrimp curry was also delicious, as were the char kway teow noodles. We didn’t go for quantity as much as quality, and at the dessert station, i focused on small delicious pandan-scented crepes filled with toasted, chewy grated coconut. The service is exceptionally polite and will make up for the dated-looking surroundings, which for some will be a concern. The furniture and color palette scheme are clearly of ten years ago and will hopefully get an update soon.
