We tried out Waffables yesterday since I was hungry and badly craving for dessert. We were surprised that it was like, really small. It wasn’t worth it. I ordered the choco something with mangoes and buttercream, I guess it was okay but my boyfriend ordered a better choice. It was a brownie waffle with yema and buttercream. It was superb! It was literally bigger than my waffle and was kinda disappointed after but I guess it was okay cos we just tried it out for the experience but never again. The pancake mic were enticing tho. They sell it for 100 pesos.
I have always loved the Churro Waffle of Rustic Mornings so I was a happy camper when they decided to open a take away booth at UPTC. We have yet to try all but started with the Choco Loco, the Apple Pie and the Churro (with added toasted almonds). Serving size might seem a bit small but is quite top heavy. Of the three, my favourite has to be the Churro. Because I love the added crunch and the yema fudge. I would have liked the Choco Loco if the type of waffle was not the classic (I find it a little softer than the Churro waffle) and it’s a little challenging to eat the Apple Pie with all those toppings. Food takes time to cook and prepare so you must be willing to wait.
It looks like a really great idea, with excellent tasting batter, cooked in high quality butter, and served with good toppings, but I can see why people think it might be expensive relative to size – and other to-go waffle brands out there.I ordered the Blueberry Burst, with a pineapple compote (their monkey butter, I was told), blueberry, slices of banana, and buttercream. Tasted great; wished I could have double the waffle real estate they’d given me in relation to the toppings. One needs to eat with care, biting off as you go.Feel concerned this kiosk might not be able to keep up with the orders if the booth gets crowded. They sell the waffle/pancake mix they use, alongside some restaurant-branded jam, in very attractive packaging that mentions their mainstay brand, Rustic Mornings by Isabelo, in Marikina. It’s worth a visit, if you haven’t been there yet.
I found myself at UP Town Center after a long time and I noticed that my favorite Ice Cream joint Wasai’s was replaced with this. Admittedly I was a bit bummed but never the less the inner (and slightly evident outer) foodie in me wanted to give this place a fair shot especially because it’s waffles and I love waffles. Waffles > Pancakes. However, as I was watching my waffle being made, I couldn’t help but notice how.. small the waffle was. For P85 I was willing to overlook the size if it meant the taste was exceptional but.. it was also a bit disappointing to be honest. I asked what their bestseller was and I was told it was the churro flavored one. I mean it’s definitely not bad but it’s nothing exceptional either. Would I buy it again? Probably not.
