First time to be in Ongpin, not really to eat food, but to look for some car parts. Since we’re here anyway, time to try legit (hopefully) Chinese food.Despite the hot weather, I will still love shabu-shabu no matter what. We came across Sam Kok along Gandara St. The place looked nice and I got a preview of the fresh ingredients from the other tables.Since my bf and I weren’t very hungry, I just selected a few ingredients for our hotpot – US beef slices, noodles, some veggies and wantons. Took a while for them to prepare our orders, but I was not disappointed when I saw the mushroom broth. It was delicious and tasted like different kinds of mushrooms as expected. I was even surprised to find a couple of black chicken slices.They had a condiment bar where you can create your own sauce. It also included a few options for appetizers. I specifically liked the seaweed. Watermelon and pineapple slices were also available for dessert.All in all, we paid around 700. A bit pricey than the set shabu shabu individual meals in malls, but what I like about authentic Chinese shabu shabu is they prepare their broth differently. Also, ingredients are more fresh.
