This is a place to visit if you want to have a taste of authentic Bacolod chicken inasal. You can choose petso or paa. Their java rice already has chicken oil in it, but you can still ask for more if you want.Other items that I liked:- Chicken skin – crispy and perfect as appetizer/pulutan- Puto manapla – soft, light-tasting puto usually served with their batchoy. Btw, their batchoy has a lot of toppings so if you’re a fan of batchoy, you’ll like their version of it.- Laing – perfect vegetable dish to accompany the fried foods. They also have other veggie dishes like gising-gising and pinakbet- Sisig – of course the menu won’t be complete without sisig! They have pork sisig or chicken sisig for the health conscious. For the drinks and desserts, I had sago’t gulaman and halo-halo though both are too sweet for me. Hope they adjust the sugar level. taraletsanywhere.com
There’s always been a certain kind of comfort and warmth I feel whenever I eat Ilonggo food. I guess it’s because I know it speaks of age-old tradition and made with so much love and passion. And just a few days ago, I felt the same emotions again as I discovered a Bacolod-grown restaurant in Marikina called Bacolod Chicken BBQ.Tracing its roots from the famed Chicken House in the sugar capital of the Philippines, Bacolod Chicken BBQ is literally more than just a chicken house. It’s a food haven that serves all the Ilonggo favorites we have all grown to love through the years – from Inasal, to La Paz Batchoy, down to the nostalgic Puto Manapla. And the best part? Everything is deliciously cheap! No wonder it’s a hit both here and in the Middle East (with 4 branches). Check out what to order and personal favorites:1. La Paz Batchoy Egg (php 155). A tasty medley of rich broth, noodles, liver, topped with crunchy chicharon and raw egg. Perfect for those cold rainy days!2. Puto Manapla (php25/PC). Soft rice cakes that pair perfectly with your batchoy. These yummy ones are rare nowadays so I didn’t shy away from eating 2!3. Inasal-Pecho/Pa-a (php 115/120)-I love how crispy-crunchy the outside is while the meat inside is tender and juicy. While the flavor was a delighgul mix of sour, salty, and savory. You can really taste the medley of calamani, coconut vinegar, and annato seeds in the marinade. It was really tasty and didnt need a sawsawan anymore, to be honest. Just like how I remember authentic inasal is supposed to be.4.Pork Sisig and Chicken Sisig – Honestly I liked both. Not too fatty and spot on with the flavor. But the chicken had a unique healthy taste to it.5. Isol, BBQ, Atay, Baticolon (php 40/45/45/45). I love anything bbq but the baticolon was my fave. Same flavor as the inasal but charred more for a crispy yet still chewy taste6. Chicken Skin (Php 120)- And of course how can I forget about the Chicken Skin of Bacolod Chicken BBQ? Extra crispy and super tasty! They were very very addictive.Bacolod Chk-n-BBQ also has branches inAyala Malls Feliz Robinsons Place Antipolo,Las Piñas City, Sta Rosa, Laguna, SM Mall of Asia, Sucat, Paranaque, Alabang, Zamboanga City hungrytravelduo.com
