If you want to experience Marikina, this is a good place to start as any. This is quintessential Marikina. Ask any Mariqueno about Lola Helen and they’ll tell you they’ve either eaten here or at least know someone who has. Yes, this is a typical karinderya: no ambience, some flies, dirty restrooms, cooks’ hygienes optional, but, gawd, is the food good. Anything you order is cooked fresh, nothing is microwaved. Come here a few times and the servers will already be familiarized with you, which adds to a more personal experience. Become a regular and they’ll even try to guess your order. I always keep coming back for their shanghai, bihon, kamaron, hototay, all their soups. Sisig is good too, lots of atay. But, like I said, the downside is you’re not too sure about how the food was prepared or how sanitary they all are in the back kitchen. God knows if the crew even wash their hands (I shudder at the thought). But, YOLO. Food is good, I’m happy. Worth a few visits for the curious. They’ve got a few parking slots in front. If full, it’s legal to park on the left side of the street.
Caution. Quality is bad.I loved Lola Helen. Most of my childhood dinner take homes of pancit and lumpia by my papa came from this place. My partner and I had some of our memorable dates in their place. I loved the place. But seeing this on our Canton con lechon (tuyo) pancit one night really broke my heart. Bought one for our special occation and took it home. Once I transferred the pancit into the plate, we noticed a cockroach egg. My partner was almost finishing a plate of the pancit and was utterly disgusted by the sight of that one tiny egg.Reported the issue to Lola Helen in which we got an apology and an offer to replace it with another one. BUT NO THANK YOU. They just refunded my money back. Still fearing for my partner’s safety, reported the issue to it’s local barangay and will follow this up on Monday with Marikina Health office.

happy to find they are on zomato now. been longing to have my fix of their bihon con lechon again. bihon-canton con lechon is a contender. i’ve always had them to-go since this place is always full. the take-out queue is always long too.
Different types of Pancit to choose from. From Bihon to miki to canton to sotanghon to lomi and some other combination. For sure you will find something that you will like. Tried miki-bihon (forgot to mention you can also choose between sarsa and tuyo) not really the best but its right there at the top. And for the price of P140 to P170 is a deal and good enough for 2-4 persons per serving. Only downside is there limited space. Definitely must try when you’re in Marikina. Also try: Chicharon Bituka
