The major revamp of Robinson’s Galleria is finally about to end, and it has brought in new concept stores in different parts of their mall. One of them is Sonoya, a Japanese stall offering Donburi and other known Japanese starters. They are located in the basement food court area. The service was warm and fast. Their food, on the other hand, needs tweaking. I got Katsudon, Sonoya’s banner product. It was unfortunately bland and dry. The eggs did not merge too well with the fried pork. This dish also lacked sauce to make it interesting. I also had Chicken Karaage. Since I instructed them to pad the oil, it wasn’t greasy anymore. However, it was almost tasteless. It was like it wasn’t marinated at all. I hope Sonoya takes these criticisms in good light. I do wish them success knowing they are a new player in the food industry. alwayshungry.ph
Great value for money indeed! Ordered their Sonoya kake udon with steamed rice for an early dinner at 5PM, it was served promptly, piping hot and portion was generous. Udon was thick yet tender, the tofu finely made and the soup can also be enjoyed with chili powder if you want it extra spicy. Sonoya is indeed a great alternative to Japanese fast foods if you want your fare healthy, hearty and carefully prepared. As this place also offes Korean fare–despite its Japanese-sounding name, will want to try their Kimchi ramen soon. Keep up the great work, Kamsa Hamnida and Domo Arigato Gozaimas, Sonoya 🙂
Pretty amazing place hidden at the back side of the food court. I was wondering why not a lot of people are eating here. It’s probably because the location is not really optimal. But give it a try! I was surprised myself how the food tastes and had very low expectations. The portion is generous, beef is tender and it’s not so sweet. Pretty generous sprinke of Nori as well.Food: 10/10Ambiance: 8/10Service: 9/10
Follow me on Instagram: @astro.adinA newly looked foodcourt of Robinsons Galleria offers new food joints and Sonoya is one of them and is located in the not-so-crowded area. I’ve been passing bu this Japanese-Korean fusion resto but last night I gave it a try since I’m really craving for Ramen. I ordered their Samgyup Tonkotsu Ramen. They’ve been advertising the north asian fusion but in this Ramen, the only Korean you’ll see is the chashu/pork. The broth unfortunately is bland and resembles an instant noodles while the other toppings doesn’t complement the broth. The aji tamgo is just a normal medium boiled egg. The noodles are thick and resembles noodles used in Lomi. Priced at Php199, Sonoya should make this or their other dishes special if they wish to compete with other Japanese/Korean joints. I hope the next time I dine-in, there is something special to make their ramen competitve.
We tried Kake Udon, Hiyashi Udon, and Karaage and were greatly impressed by the quality considering their prices! We’ll surely come back to try the other choices in their menu!
