When it first opened in the South, Hungry Hippo was a standout burger. At that time they had thick, juicy burgers laden with veggies and fixings. Every bite was messy as you had lettuce, tomatoes and that large patty to fit in your mouth. There was truly none like it during that time. Now, it is a shadow of what it once was. The burger scene is competitive and it looks like Hungry Hippo is barely surviving. The patty is still delicious and juicy, but there are hardly any veggies aside from a sorry looking tomato and a crunchy onion ring which provided a texture contrast. But for the price? I would take my 160/170 somewhere else.Sad to see a childhood favorite fade away.
