Went down memory lane today with a visit to Bahay Kawayan. My dad used to take here during our weekend getaways. The place is different from what I remember then but the food is still good. We ordered nilagang bulalo, lechon kawali, ensaladang mustasa. All good but I must say the ensalada and the veggies in the bulalo were the best—- very fresh and delightful.

Must try is their adobong pusit sa gata and the ensaladang mustasa. The squid is cooked just right so it is tender and not rubbery. Also unique is their Sinigang na Kanduli. End your meal with a cream puff or two.

Went here for lunch service. Our review:Food Adobong pusit sa gata, lechon kawali: decentChopsuey: carrots were rawFried chicken: bland, dry and coldKare-kare: lacked nutty flavor, tastes like yellow gooey cheese Water is the best thing you can get hereService: terribly slow, took 45 minutes for food to arrive. Notice how most people comment on the restaurant experience, not the food. Better off to cook at home.

My family’s go to place for celebrations. Mainly because Taytay only has a few restaurants, but now growing in number. Sinigang na kandule is a family fave as well as anything kandule. They have function rooms as well as a common dining area. The staff is very accommodating and service is good.

This is one of the town’s popular eating destination. From a simple eatery to a full blown restaurant, this is one of the success story in terms of food business in the town. The lutong bahay food are simple but very flavorful. It’s like eating in a fiesta everytime you dine but it is priced within your budget. The menu is quite extensive but you cannot go wrong with any of it. The only thing that I don’t like is the renivation they have done to the place. It now appears to be very modernized and I somewhat missed the real kawayan
