We came to Merlini on the occasion of the Fine Dining Week. After entering the restaurant, we were welcomed by the lady waiter whom we said about her booking. Maître d’hôtel joined in, grumbling over the details. We were seated on the first floor – cozy, half-shade on quite comfortable armchairs. The only drawback was the family dinner taking place at the next table – the children were relatively loud, especially when they started watching cartoons, of course without headphones. The waiter seemed not very aware, she asked whether to give a wine list – only asked if there are any recommended wines, she mentioned that you can buy a series of wines selected for each of the dishes. The price equaled the ticket price, which is why we stopped with a glass of Cava to the dessert. Dishes appeared quite quickly after each other. We were served by a total of three waiters for a change, which seems a bit unprofessional. The starter was very tasty, fresh seafood (we liked the octopus carpaccio exceptionally). The soup, or salsify cream, was pleasantly warm, slightly peppery and contained delicious foie gras – a slice of kumquat did not fit perfectly. The next dish was, provided with delicious pumpkin puree, and baked potato puree, a piece of monkfish. Fish smell dominated over others and it was not pleasant in any way. Not knowing exactly what to expect from such an extraordinary fish, we ate it. The meat was chewy and tasteless, and after leaving the restaurant it most likely caused a very strong stomach ache, nausea, etc. We told the waiter that the dish was unpalatable – he promised to send the message to the chef, but we did not receive any feedback. Behind the fish followed a small saddle of lamb, served lightly bloody – a modest dish, but probably the tastiest of the whole. At the end, dessert was given, very rich, probably everything: chocolate, meringue, fruit, creams, etc. The dessert seemed to be designed as if it were to clog up the customer, which he did – a slight hunger was pacified. When we finally asked for the bill (for the wine ordered), we had to ask for a fiscal receipt.  I do not recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly, and I would like to warn against ordering fish dishes if possible daredevils.
