About
A culinary journey through the Borderlands Lithuanian vederaj and didkukuliai. Chicken breast a la Kiev, Belarusian draniki with pork. Jewish czulent. Podlasie style shank with bison grass. Bison meat pierogi. These are the Borderland cuisine delicacies you can enjoy visiting the region. However, it is easier to visit Bialystok Babka regional restaurant. The place is very charming - the owners made sure that every detail of the decor was bordelands related. They travelled along the Podlasie folklore trail and talked to housewives who make traditional wall hangings. Now you can see their work on Babka's walls. The armchairs upholstery is inspired by double -warp cloth from Janow Podlaski, the chairs have classic Podlasie Easter egg motif and the waitresses' blouses are decorated with hand-woven Belarusian perebor . The patterns on the wallpaper and chandeliers are inspired by this motif as well. Even modern day lamps match the whole interior. In the menu , besides already mentioned specialties such as vederai (i.e., potato sausage with sauerkraut salad) and didkukuliai (ie, zeppelins, or in other words - kartacze with lard with crispy pieces of pork rinds), you will find herring tartare, Lithuanian chlodnik (cold soup) with crayfish tails (seasonally ), piele mieni in broth with lovage, or fish solianka with salmon. For dessert you can taste Grandma's crumpets with apples, warenikas (dumplings) stuffed with blueberries, or the cake of the day. In Babka we also serve a lot of kinds of babka ziemniaczana (potato babka): with marjoram sausage, with sweet onion (perfect for vegetarians) or with apples - slightly sweet-sour served both hot or cold with sour cream. All the dishes are freshly prepared. In Babka we also serve unconventional beverages: homemade compots, "babka" honey kvass, unusual selection of beers including Lithuanian, Russian and Ukrainian ones. Located in the center of Bialystok Babka regional restaurant seats up to 40 guests. It is a place of unique atmosphere suitable for both family and corporate events, as well as romantic dates. It's a great place if you want to feel the essence of the best borderland climates. We are waiting for you!Details
