Located in the Castle of Estremoz square, Sao Rosas alludes to the well known legend of the Miracle of the Roses attributed to Holy Queen Isabel. Queen Isabel was giving bread to the poor against the will of King D.Dinis, and when surprised by the King in this gesture, the Queen answered: It's roses (Sao Rosas), transforming the bread into flowers. Sao Rosas opened in 1994 by the Chef Margarida Cabaco and is today a multi-award restaurant, recognized nationally and internationally. Sao Rosas is dedicated to the Portuguese cuisine, highlighting the very old traditional cuisine of Alentejo.
