We visited for lunch. The inside of the restaurant smelled unpleasant. The service was surly. The roast chicken piri piri had no piri piri. The home cooked lasagne was lukewarm and stodgy. Worst lunch we’ve had in Portugal.
Worst meal we had in Vila Rel de Santo Antonio. Garlic bread was a stodge and very little garlic and two pastas that were just running in very watery cream. Red wine was cheap but ghastly. Never again.
Surrounded by other restaurants, this one appealed once we peered inside and saw the professional staff and traditional atmosphere. We were not wrong. The food was above average, my pizza in particular. The house wine was more than drinkable too. Very friendly and helpful service.
