We are local residents and we love this place; so do our visitors. The location, an easy walk from the Cascais station and sea views are fantastic; right on the waterfront. Enjoy lunch before or after your beach day on the open esplanade. Our favourite dish is clams “amêijoas a bulhão pato”. Their white (house) wine is delicious and the service is always friendly and efficient. We have never noticed any difference between the treatment of local Portuguese over tourists and we’ve been here many times.

As usual when I visit Cascais one of my first stops is for a meal at Escotilha. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the overall experience is second to none. I adore the food here and i am never disappointed. It’s always busy and full of locals and tourists which is a good sign in any country. If the locals eat there its good and this has always been my motto in every country I visit! Its in an ideal spot to sit and watch the world go by and overlooks the sea. Another important aspect for me is the overall cleanliness of any restaurant. If the toilets are clean the rest is clean and the toilets here are so clean and well maintained with disabled access for my father’s wheelchair. Wether it’s for a coffee, a meal or just an ice cream I love to visit this quirky little corner of heaven..
I think this cafe is exactly what you expect it to be. It’s right on the promenade in Cascais. I just stopped for a snack and a drink the other day. I ordered a chicken wrap, it was pretty reasonably priced at €5.50 and I also ordered a large bottle of sparkling water for €3.50 which seems to be the average amount charged. The wrap was fine, it wasn’t out of this world but there was nothing wrong with it. It had some crunchy coleslaw in it which was a nice surprise. It probably could have done with some seasoning. Service was good, nothing really to note in that respect. Like I said it’s pretty much what you expect a seafront cafe to be. Toilets were nice and clean, that’s always worth a lot in my book!
Ambiente agradável, funcionários simpáticos. O atendimento foi rápido.Comi uma salada césar, mas isso polvo a lagareiro e hambúrgueres soa muito bom.As sobremesas também são muito boas.
My weekend breakfast haunt when I feel I deserve a good breakfast, with great sea view, good food and great service. Also one of the best polvo a lagareiro in the area.
Tudo otimo! Gostei muito da simpatia dos empregados e do que consumi. Os pratos são originais e tem tudo bom aspeto. O preço é um bocado elevado mas é o normal para a zona em que está situado.
