Pão da Terra is a light flooded corner inside the Mercado de Matosinhos. You’re able to smell the fresh bread when coming closer to the bakery. All bread loafs are made of natural fermented dough. Very often, you can see a jar of sour dough on the counter. Ask if you may smell it! My favorite is clearly the pão mistura (wheat and rye) and the pão de alfarroba (carob flour). Second one is a very dark bread with a slightly sweet and aromatic flavor. All bread loafs are very moist from the inside with a crisp crust. Believe it or not, but the bread stays fresh for over a week! We’ve done the test! You clearly see, smell and taste the high quality of the bread. I’m not kidding, but Ana’s bread loafs are the only ones which enter our house! She’s such a lovely person, full of passion for her bread!
