A new, small little restaurant with sole focus on Bao. First of its kind, I think, in Doha. And probably one of my favorite new restaurants in the country.They say first impression is the best. So you walk into a nice little restaurant. Not a lot of seatings there. I guess they had around a total of 8 tables. It’s a small cozy place, with interesting seating arrangements on the side of the wall (capacity of 2).The menu is pretty small which is expected from a new restaurant. But the food even sounds interesting to read off the menu.I started off with a berry mojito. They serve it with mashed actual berries as opposed to using syrup like most places. A refreshing drink to have.Then we tried the Kani salad and the beef gyoza. The gyoza wasn’t anything extra ordinary. But the salad was very refreshing and nice. The crab meat was also very good. The dressing for the salad was just perfect to accompany the dish.We moved on to the bao. We tried two baos. The duck bao and the short ribs bao. The duck bao came with a slice of duck meat and some pomegranate. The sweetness to the duck kind of balances out with the fruit. However, I personally felt the duck to be very dry and over cooked. It was a bit chewy. The short ribs though, was amazingly good. The meat and sauce just perfect. The bao is very fluffy and nice. They mailed that to perfection as well.We also had the chicken Katsu bowl. A fried chicken breast with curry and rice. Chicken is fried with panko maybe could use a bit more seasoning on the crust. The curry though was very good. Goes well with the rice and chicken. The bowl is good enough for two to have, if you are gonna try the other food as well.We couldn’t get to try some dessert, but next time I go there, definitely trying some.
