Very nice interior and bar area, less appealing the main part of the restaurant.Service slow especially for happy hours and a bit messy – wrong orders delivered to the table, someone else’s (much higher) bill given to pay. And do you really have to change the plates so often, to the point when it’s annoying and interrupting the conversation? After the great reviews, food doesn’t really hit the expectations. But maybe it’s a usual case in Doha, when the first months are great and after that the standards are dramatically dropping. Definitely was expecting more exciting dishes. From everything what we ordered beef kakuni really stood out but the rest like toro tartar, black cod or sushi where pretty average.
Incredibly disappointed with our Saturday evening birthday gathering at the famed Morimoto. We were a party of 12, arriving before 7pm for the happy hour which ends at 8pm. QR95 for 3 dishes sounded decent and great for sharing, but when the dishes take super long and some don’t even arrive (we did not get 2 dishes) on a relatively quiet evening, you wonder what the awards were for. While the food tasted decent, the chocolate sphere desert for QR80 was a complete mess to eat. Worst of all, the waiter had already robbed the entire table of our napkins. Overall a very pretentious venue run by appallingly poorly trained staff.
Food and ambience are just perfect. There may be little flaws in service, but they are able to recover and host a more enjoyable dining experience. Must try: omakase with beverage pairing! Morimoto surely covered our longing for Japan.
Had a chance to experience a private dinner with Iron Chef Morimoto himself the other night. The experience was awesome. Four course meal preceded by some makis and nigiris rolled by the Iron Chef himself.A pretty regular at this place and always a great dining experience! Hat’s off to Chef Timur as well
