Visited the Riva restaurant this evening during our stay at the banana island. The restaurant is very good, and offers a true taste of Italy. The front of house was from Torino (Frederico) and guided us through the menu and offered us a complimentary shot of watermelon and lime concoction – it was a tease of sweet, sour and slightly acidic. My daughter loved it so much Frederico offered her 4 shots! The kids were able to make their own pizza, I had a bite of the pizza. The crust was thin, good quality dough and the toppings and ingredients were fresh and flavoursome. No starters for us as the complimentary bread was soft and freshly baked in the oven served with black olives and tomato. I ordered the prawn risotto – this was truly a 5 star dish. The risotto was al dente with a creamy texture. The broth from the giant prawns was laced with butter and fresh basil and lifted the risotto when mixed. I scoffed this dish in record time and highly recommend this plate. My wife ordered a pasta dish with freshly cracked black pepper and baby tomatoes with shavings of Parmesan. She said she enjoyed it – but is nowhere as critical as me!For desert I ordered their special on the day which was a chocolate bomb served with a shot of espresso and a scoop of vanilla ice cream and strawberries on the side. I only managed a bite of the strawberries as my son polished desert off for me. He was happy and I was very content with my espresso. Hats off to Vinayak and the rest of the staff for their courteous and welcoming service which added to our dining experience.I would have rated the restaurant 4.5 stars but Zomato doesn’t have this option. My only criticism would be don’t call Hagen Daz gelato – it’s icrecream and also the restaurant was a bit too warm. But apart from these critiques the restaurant is well worth a visit even as part of a day trip. Highly recommended – shame the food was too good I didn’t have any time to take pictures!! Keep up the good work guys!
