This is a review after my second visit to Almanchab. I was craving their speciality Samboosa. The restaurant is located in a luxurious destination in Qatar (Al Hazm) which makes it convenient for people who would like to eat traditional food in modern places. The interior of the restaurant is rustic inspired by the traditional houses with using traditional elements and materials. The staff are friendly but I expected a better service Vs. the value of money. The food is delicious by all means specially the “Dates and walnut salad, Al Manchab Samboosa, pafki Chicken Salad, and Lamb Machboos”
The restaurant was ridiculously expensive which you dont mind if the food experience is exceptionally good although I still dont get why would chapptti bread costs 90 rayals (this is not a michelin star restaurant). The food wasnt only tasteless but it wasnt also fresh. The salad was soggy, the fried fish didnt taste or smell fresh and the only thing you can taste in prawn majbos is the oil not the herbs not the spices just oil. It was an awful experience. It doesnt worth the money. If they going to charge this amount of money, at least they can ensure their ingredients are fresh.
It was supposed to be a restaurant with local food offering. At least it was said to be. Turned out to be a fusion restaurant not bad with some good plates but not what I expected. Not your healthy food though 🙂

Brought my friends for lunch thinking that they should taste the local qatari cuisine. It didn’t fail us. Our best dining experience in doha so far. Delicious food, hospitality at its best. Will visit for breakfast soon. It was wonderful to see a local (qatari) female chef heading such a busy place.
