Bad life is a disorder, chaos, mess, failure, absurdity and groundlessness. The Pomorian spirit is elusive, but it lives with us always and everywhere. It disappears at once as soon as you try to touch it and split it in parts. The museum Lad is situated in the building, which was built by a petty bourgeois D.P. Golovin from Arkhangelsk in 1911. At the beginning of the last century this building was used as a commercial storehouse. At the 19th century here were kept such colonial goods as contraband rum from Norway, lemons (Arkhangelsk is a transshipment point of lemons in Russia), coffee (coffee consumption began at a village Mezen, Arkhangelsk region). In 1994 after the fire the building was reconstructed almost from the ruins. The museum Lad has two halls: a village and a city. The village has an atmosphere of Pomors village life. A Pomors izba is divided in two equal halves: for men and for women. This division was strictly followed. The city is dedicated to the Arctic journeys from the first Pomors till our days.
