The Gostevaya Izba (Pilgrims' Refectory) restaurant and museum of Russian gastronomic heritage is located in the historic building of the Old Monastery Hostelry wine cellar at St Sergius Holy Trinity Lavra. Opened in 2012 the restaurant was established to recreate the Russian households cuisine from the Middle Ages to nowadays. The wooden furniture, waiters outfits and folk prints on the walls replicate the authentic items from the Sergiev Posad State History and Arts Museum Reserve. Mantelpieces are tiled with unique ceramic tiles manufactured using the old casts. The Gostevaya Izba (Pilgrims' Refectory) has two banquet halls and a small private dining room seating 25, and two spacious patios, which suits a large gathering, a family or a group of friends. Guests are welcome to get acquainted with the Russian culinary traditions in all their variety.
