Chai Chee Pork Porridge is a renowned hawker serving Cantonese-style congee. Located at 85 Bedok North Road, one of Singaporeans’ favourite hawker centre, the porridge is ridiculously smooth and silky with occasional flavour burst.My favourite is their signature pork porridge. You can add additional ingredients for varying amount. The thick, smooth and silky porridge, simmered over 5 hours of slow heat, is fragrant and aromatic. The minced meat is marinated in sesame oil, pepper and salt and mixed with fish meat. Cooked minimally, the minced meat chunk is juicy and succulent and tantalises your palate repeatedly with bursts of savoury and spice. It’s mind bogging how a simple porridge meal can be a delectable adventure, perfected over 40 to 50 years of dedication and meticulousness.
