Swee Guan is a critically-acclaimed hawker stall at Lor 29 Geylang Road. The stall sells only Singaporean-style fried Hokkien Mee and is a perpetual favourite among diners for its insistence on using a charcoal fire to fry their noodles. The proprietor believes that enhances its flavour though the unmissable taste of thick char may be a distraction for some.I ordered a plate of their Hokkien Mee, which comes with huge tiger prawns. The noodles were overcooked and mushy and the lingering alkaline yellow noodles was simply unacceptable. The prawn stock was mild and was unable to match the alkaline taste. Probably my last visit.
The Damage: S$10 for twoA long queue even before opening tells a lot about the popularity of this stall. Slightly wet, above average tasty Hokkien Mee with fresh prawns and squid.Follow us at IG: eatsmorefun
