We went here for a Sunday brunch and managed to beat the family lunch crowd. This is a truly popular restaurant and I can’t imagine how you’d get to eat here without a reservation. We ordered up quite the dimsum feast and everything was amazing. I don’t know the names of half the things were ordered but I particularly loved the different buns whether fried, steamed or what have you.Come here with a bit appetite!
A mighty Teochew Restaurant at the heart of Orchard Road which standards have declined in the past few years. The long menu continues to distract the chefs and the new dishes fail to stay true to its Teochew roots. My girl mate and I ordered several dishes including their crispy pork belly, crispy skin chicken and shark’s fins soup. First, the crispy pork belly remains incredibly divine and arguably their signature dish after the yummy egg tarts (it’s sold out! ☹️) . The golden brown skin is crunchy and fragrant and retains some oil and moist so that it is not so dry and hard. The pork belly is tender, succulent and soft; and removing the fatty layer is a stroke of genius. The crispy skin chicken is average. While the chicken meat is tender and soft, the lack of marinate makes it an arduous effort to munch and swallow. The shark’s fins soup has also declined in standards. The fins are no longer distinct and separate but a gluey mixture of undefined fins which melts in the soup. It won’t be long before it banishes in my memory
