I have supported Saints since opening day, I have had several pleasant meals there over the years. Booked a spot for a first date, beer fests, spent graduation there with family and all experiences were pretty good. However, lately the quality has dropped. The 2018 exam menu has not been amazing. Three people, one ordered the arribiatta pasta and it was very good, even accommodated the vegan person (this was off the standard menu). But I made the mistake of ordering the prego, which consisted of a semi stale bun, questionable greens and three odd pieces of tenderized steak. This whole thing was smothered in sauce (which they do mention) the sauce was delicious but did not mask the mediocrity of the prego essentials. The other person ordered a cheeseburger from the exam menu and the meat was absolutely horrifying. Dry, overcooked, could just taste binding agents with little to no meat taste (very fake taste). A few weeks earlier I was also at saints and the meals ordered were: Chicken supreme and a fried calamari meal, the chicken was tough, cheap tasting and very dry (this I have had many times previously and it was great) and the calamari was just a heap of over fried calamari rings, oily and bland. Saints has become saints cafe, or saints restaurant. It is not a Bistro, and is no longer gourmet. the beers on tap are limited and they charge premium prices for what is now mediocre food. I would rather go to Spur for a burger. And I haven’t been there in years, but somehow I know it would be a better burger for a better value. The waiter was very good, and made the experience a little bit better.I will visit saints again in the future and I hope they clean up their act. I feel as though the last bastion of good food in Grahamstown has been swallowed up by the mediocre place it resides in.

Been to Saints a few times, tonight was a great experience. Calamari was ordered by my daughter with a side salad, extremely fresh and crispy. I had the fillet and a salad, cooked to perfection. Best of all, the service was excellent.

Came here during the 2017 Gtown Arts Fest: 1st: the best thing about the prawn fish curry (+/- R150) was the crunchy papadum, curry more like a good sauce over some rice, though the 2 prawns were not small, fish barely visable and tasteble, greek salad impressive and generous (+/- R60), great waiter who tells u what he likes!

As a self proclaimed food critic. This by far is the best restaurant in Grahamstown. With affordable prices for the value of food you are getting. Now, generally in a town like this, finding quality food can be hard. But this place won’t let you down. Came with the bae the other night, second time eating here. We are both vegans and the waitress was very accomodating. With a small vegan menu, the dishes were fantastic. I recomend the chickpea curry and spicy fried rice. The ambiance could be improved on with some renovations but overall its a nice quaint place if you want dinner for two or with your family.
