I had a fantastic time, place is beautiful and the food was galore and deliciousPlay area for the kids was also good, if only they can work on the pool, that would be fantasticThank you!
A venue with a very nice holiday theme. The food was good, as they catered for all taste buds. No glasses are allowed due to the beach sand, so you had to bring your own plastic cups as well as drinks. It has a nice and relaxed atmosphere but still needs a lot of improvement..
The concept is brilliant BUT if you are NOT Afrikaans speaking you will NOT feel welcome. You pay in advance for your booking (which is fine) except we left before we had anything to eat after having been there 1hr 30min and we paid R1770 for that. Besides the fact that we were exposed to passive smoking EVERY MINUTE we spent there together with our kids, we were left to guess what was being announced because it was said in Afrikaans. I mean W.T.H, we were so offended we had to leave. The message was loud and clear that Kaya Beach is for a certain group of people!!! #NoEkhayaFeelingAtKayaBeach!!!
What an amazing place. The atmosphere was incredible and the food was delicious. The staff, or as they call themselves; The Kaya Crew, were fantastic. Really on the ball and well organised. We all had such a wonderful time. Worth every cent. Well done Kaya Beach. We will definitely see you again soon.
So I attended a birthday party at Kaya Beach on Saturday evening and to be honest I wasn’t expecting much, but to my surprise the evening didn’t turn out half as bad!Having to take your own drinks is pretty great cause we all know how quickly drinks start to add up! But you also need to take your own water, soft drinks, and of course plastic glasses/ tumblers to drink out of, and let’s not forget ice! So you need to make sure you have all of those things else the evening could turn out pretty grim. The food I must admit was a lot better than what I had expected! The muscle pot was delicious and the bread that came with it was really good too!The second course of chicken curry and Paella was decent too. I have never had Paella before so I don’t have much to base my opinion on, but taste wise, it was not bad at all! The chicken curry was tasty too, but could have done with a bit more spice. The third course was beef potjie and fillets of snoek. The Beef potjie was far too sweet for my liking and I didn’t like it at all. The snoek was fabulous though! For dessert there were koeksisters and coffe. The koeksisters were good, I think they could have been better but they were good.In general it was a nice evening but it’s not somewhere I would rush back to for a few reasons. I think that restaurants these days should cater for all cultures yet all that was spoken was Afrikaans, so when the raffle came around hardly anyone at our table could understand what numbers were being called. Another thing, I don’t think R200 per head is reasonable for what we received. The food was good, but when I compare it to what I can go out and eat for R200, then it doesn’t seem good value for money at all. I must admit I do like the finer things in life, and Kaya Beach does not fit that description, but, if you enjoy a more casual, laid back vibe then you will probably really have a good time. It’s pretty fun with all the sand around you, and it is something different, but I think a few changes are needed here and there to really make this restaurant stand out for what it is, and what it can be.
