It was a Sunday morning and P and I wanted to go for a quick bite to eat, we had to do our Sunday shopping so it had to be quick and convenient. I noticed Cafe Delicia on the Facebook and thought of reading group the reviews on Zomato. Some comments were positives and some were not so. I thought let’s try it out. We arrived and were greeted with smiling faces, ordered a cappuccino and got a late but hey it was really nice.. i had the beef bitoque with an egg and P had the pork equivalent otherwise knows as Febras de Porco. I ordered my beef medium rare and soft egg. The beef arrived slightly well done but it being a rather thin piece of steak one could understand. It came with sliced chips and a bit of salad. The beef was tasty and really enjoyable.. the Portuguese bread that was dipped into the egg and forked the beef made a delicious combination.. the waitress was very friendly and was slightly nervous, but she was very attentive and made us feel comfortable. Please enjoyed her pork steaks, I tasted it as well and reminded me of mommys cooking. The chef is a Portuguese lady that is so proud of her food and heritage. They offer daily meals where you need to bring your own tuppperware for R55 a person and you have to order twice a week – each meal you have a bread roll, soup and a meal ; it is places like these that makes it worth the while for you to get your meal done for you already in stead of going to the shops buying everything and paying much more. So my recommendation is for you to try this establishment, try their meal of the day (which today was a traditional Portuguese dish which is known as Dobrada (tripe). What I love about this place is the passion of the owner.. she is very proud of her cooking.. and she has every right to be. Good luck

Update:The extractor fan is still not working, and there was little to no attention to detail. The eggs were rock hard instead of a delicious medium, and they were burned around the edges, the bacon was so hard I could not cut it with the knife and fork, the toast was very underdone, and the chips were quite cool. They also had very limited cold drinks on offer, and only one sugar-free alternative. Very disappointing. We will give this place a skip next time. Cafe Delicia  is a lovely place hidden away just below the Karaglen Centre. The feeling is lovely and open, and the staff members were all very friendly. The breakfast was delicious – I had the Nacional (fried eggs, bacon, grilled tomato, toast, and chips) and it was very good.  I gave the rating of 4 because the extractor fan in the kitchen didn’t seem to be working which caused some smoke and lots of cooking smell in the eating area, and the floor was a bit sticky.  Apart from this, the chips were very good, and the breakfast overall was very good.  The price point was also very good.  We will be back to try other items on the menu.

My compliments to the Chef, the Madeira Breakfast ( with extra chips ) was really very good.Parking right outside, a bright airy dining room and friendly staff, what more do you need. When we were there the kitchen extractor fan was not working so it was a little smokey inside. It is on our list of good breakfast places in Edenvale.
