O’ Peri Peri is a restaurant in Edenvale that serves both Portuguese and Mediterranean. The word and naming inspiration for the restaurant, ‘Peri-Peri’ (also known as the African Bird’s Eye Chilli) is a natural preservative and grown in African soil. Food:On the food side, some mentionable O’ Peri Peri’s specialties: Bife a Portuguesa, Prego No Prato, Trinchado (300g rump cubes served with their delicious soft chips and a roll), and Entre Costos De Porco (pork ribs) to name just a few. Service:I can’t complain as I have never actually sat in for a meal here. Full review to follow.. Recommendation: O’ Peri Peri is my go-to for well-priced takeaways when in the area. Where else in Johannesburg can you have Caldo Verde, a steak Prego, Pork roll or Chourico for under R50?If like me, you’d prefer to just grab a takeaway here, I’d recommend phoning ahead to ensure that you don’t have a lengthy waiting time. We have always enjoyed the food here but the last 3 times we ordered take out, it was really bad. I did call the restaurant and complain directly to them previously and they were apologetic. This time I called after placing my order via Mr D. to ensure we did not have the same issues. The chicken was mild (we ordered hot) with a very thin watery sauce that was flavourless. The ribs were overcooked and burnt and had the consistency of biltong! Last time we ever order from here. Food quality is probably the worst I’ve ever had.
