Le Petit Sel Bistro, (tucked away in The Falstaff on Rivonia Road) after last night, is my new favourite hidden gem from Coco Reinarhz, Chef and Patron of Le Petit Sel.This contemporary bistro in the heart of Sandton, has some of the most incredibly generous portions and delicious menu offerings that I have ever seen! It is just so comprehensive and rather than limiting me during restaurant week to one or two, Alert our waitress just told me select anything off their menu that I would prefer..Onto the food that we ordered to share last night:Starters – Roulade de truite saumonée fumée sur un rösti à la coriandre et sa crème au citron (smoked salmon) & Their SIGNATURE Croustillant de tomate et mozzarella servi avec vinaigre balsamique et huile d’olive (crunchy tomato and mozzarella) which for me was THE dish of the evening! Simple and yet just perfect! Mains – Aloyau grillé, sauce au poivre vert et ses oignons frits (grilled sirloin) &Côte de Porc épaisse grillée et sauce à la moutarde de Dijon (thick flame-grilled pork chops)Desserts – Crêpe Suzette &their melt-in-your-mouth Fondant au chocolat!I am a huge Chef Coco Reinarhz fan and I love how he manages to combine both his classical French training and the African flavours that we have all come to love. I enjoyed an incredibly intimate date night dinner overlooking their candlelit pool and being served by Alert and Joshua, who went over and above my requirements.. *Recommendation: I still can not comprehend how generous the portions are, and for fine dining meals like this – the value for money is phenomenal! This is going to be a staple for romantic date nights for me going forward!

Decided to visit this establishment during Restuarant Week 2015 so was fortunate enough to be able benefit accordingly. The service and ambience was good. Unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations. I had the Lamb Shank main which was poorly lacking in seasoning. My partner chose Steak Tartare which was fair but was over seasoned with Worcester Sauce. I had a Chocolate Fondant which was more like a cake (no soft centre). Overall underwhelming.
