River Cafe is a nice restaurant if you have kids and want to be able to relax while your kids run around. A good party venue and place for a brunch/cup of coffee, my family and I are a regular. The savory mince on toast is phenomenal and in my opinion the best thing on the menu. Ambiance is pretty and nostalgic, with little rabbits bouncing around waiting to be fed carrots. I would like a bit faster service but I would recommend this place.
I was invited to a kids party this weekend. The group was quite big so I can understand that things can get a bit out of hand with such a big group. The pizza’s were great though! However, the outside party area was just filthy. It looked like the floor had not been cleaned properly in years. Yes, its outside and it will get dusty but that was beyond a day or two’s dirt. The waiters are not well trained either. They are slow and they all looked nervous. A simple cash transaction took 30 minutes to complete. It is a great place for a kids party but they need to pay more attention to hygiene standards and staff training.
Fantastic Classic Cheese burger. #3 on my sandton burger index. Fantastic Greek salad for the table. Surprisingly good with a bottle of white wine in the heat & shade.
