Stepping into Sandton Intercontinental is setting up expectations for the Atruim. Those glass windows from floor to ceiling with the backdrop of sandton is gorgeous. The rest of the surroundings is elegant and somewhat tranquil. Our monday night dinner to celebrate our anniversary was lovely even though restaurant was fairly empty. This tends to be norm with hotel restaurants though. Omar our waiter was knowledgeable on the menu and such a pleasure. We opted for a thai crispy pork salad to share as a starter, this was served with jasmine rice. It was delicious. To follow we opted for the popular prawn, calamari squid ink risotto and lamb rack. The risotto although not the right texture, was packed with flavour on the prawns and calamari. A good sauce and fondant pototoes made the lamb dish equally good. As we were two full to order dessert, and we celebrating an occassion, we were complimented a slice of chocolate cake, which was yum.I would definitely return, perhaps on a sunny day to take in the views!

To celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary we hosted a family breakfast at The Atrium at the Sandton Intercontinental Hotel. Making the reservation a few days before was good – our reservation was confirmed with a call back by the floor manager Martin. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and our reserved table was well placed. Martin personally helped settle us in, welcoming us & arranging a special table to hold our gifts. There was a buzz because the restaurant was full. Service from our dedicated waitress and other serving staff, if she was busy with another table, was polite, friendly & helpful. Our orders were a mixture of buffet & al la carte. Buffet selection was usual hotel fare but delicious and fresh. There was an interesting oriental breakfast selection as well. The al la carte orders were very good. Given the quality of service from the staff, the delicious food and the enjoyable atmosphere and the imported French champagne we used to celebrate the occasion, the value of approximately R370 per person was well worth the cost. Highly recommended.

We decided to have a late night meal after a function we went to. The kitchen accommodated us. We had hake and chips and the chicken quesadillas. Tasty. Delicious. Fresh. Served hot!The waitress was amazing. Bright and cheerful at 22:30. The ambience was peaceful and calm, people sitting around and relaxing over some coffee or drinks.
