Delicious Chinese food especially the spring rolls and noodles and all other food. Very good service and hard working people who serve. Just wish the restaurant could be bigger but otherwise fantastic.
Unfortunately we were very let down by Lai Lai Garden last night. We stood, as customers at the door for 10 minutes before even being acknowledge by staff and management who could definitely see us. I then asked the manager if they were open- I got a half hearted yes. So we sat ourselves down. When wanting to order an array of food because we love Chinese- we were told the steamer is broken so basically your only able to order deep friend food from a menu that 50% steamed! Much to say we got up and left. There was definitely a reason we were to be the ONLY table in Lai Lai at 4pm yesterday.
I was out on a mom and daughter date with my 10 year old and she decided on Chinese as soon as she saw the Golden Lions! We were seated quickly, on a Friday evening with no booking. The “outside” seating areas cater for groups of 2 to about 8 and the inside areas has mostly large round tables for bigger gatherings. The menu was a little intimidating for a 10 year old that does not like very spicy food she struggled to find something, so in the end we settled for a few starter dishes to share. The waiter was very friendly and efficient and happily gave great advice on which dishes and variations to choose. We decided on spring rolls – some chicken and some prawn. These came with a dipping sauce which my 10yo LOVED. We also had some pork dumplings which we decided to have fried. The filling was generously porky with flavours of ginger and rosemary. The hit for my daughter, surprisingly, was the steamed prawn dumplings in rice wraps, she couldn’t get enough of these! We didn’t try any of the mains but this was a good spot for a quick light supper before a show.
