Seems like i have to go against the grain here. Saturday was brunch day and decided to give melt a try.My wife opted for the Belgian waffle with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, judging by the smile on her face and the fact that she actually took a take away for what she could not finish says a lot.Its actually the roast beef sandwhich that i am basing my score on. At 90 bucks i do not think this ks value for money, the flavours worked nice but overall lacked in what you expect at this price point. The open sandwhich was done on normal white bread toast (again at this price point a good ciabata or similar would be better value) the roast beed was less than 40gram (4 thin slices) and the goats cheese less than a teaspoon.I dont mind paying for quality but a dining experience is as much a flavour as well as value experience
I’ve walked past this spot a million times, but this time, we were specifically after waffles and were told that this was the place to be.Melt is a chocolaterie and coffee shop, and although it is in the middle of a shopping mall walkway, it still manages to create a kinda French cafe feel (Sandton Style 😉 The menu is small but well designed to suit the tastes of all of us on the day. The toasted sandwiches can be made with a selection of breads, the health bread was my pick and, with gruyere, ham and cheese, and came served with a fresh salad which was actually delicious and not just a garnish. My mom went for the whole-wheat scone, a rather rustic looking one, with a generous helping of gruyere, jam and cream. The kids had a field day with the waffles, and these definitely lived up to their name. The “crispy” waffles come with a number of topping options, including Belgian chocolate, honey, syrup and more, and you can also opt in for Paul’s Homemade Ice cream, which you can choose from a selection in the little shop. This is fast becoming a little favourite of ours. Service is friendly and efficient, the food has all impressed and the waffles meet the demands of some very picky customers! 😀
Best wholewheat scones with the most magnificent cheese, jam and cream. Cappuccino good too but could have been a little hotter. Seemed to take a bit of time today but well worth the wait. My friend’s son had the chocolate brownies which looked delicious too.
