It was a Saturday evening and we found ourselves craving something different. We decided to go try Ottoman Palace at the Turkish Mosque in Midrand. This is a place that I’ve been wanting to go to for a while now.The restaurant is huge but it is pretty dark and it lacks ambience. There were only a few tables occupied but that may have been because it was almost closing time. We ordered a couple of dishes to share between ourselves. The chicken pide and the cheese pide were my absolute favourite and something I’d order again. It was almost like a pizza but with the most delicious base. We also ordered the chicken clay, lamb cubes and potato chips. The chicken clay wasn’t too bad when paired with the complimentary flatbread we were served when we arrived at the restaurant. The lamb cubes, on the other hand, is something I would not order again simply because the meat was tough, under seasoned and slightly charred. The chips were quite delicious.I’m glad we decided to take the drive out to try this restaurant. I’d definitely like to go back and try some of the other dishes on their menu.

More flies than food. Portion are very small. I love Turkish food but this place kills it for me. Gona stick to Istanbul in Rivonia. Will not visit ottoman again. Thanks for ruining my appetite 🙁
