Absolutely average service! We were sat in the incorrect area for starters and then asked to move for mains, the dessert was a very underwhelming 3 course meal. The duck reads as a thigh on the menu however the establishment serves you a breast portion, very chewy! There are some items that are not available on the menu like the set 5 course experience. The waiter was very clueless on the meals displayed on the menu, this place is not worth the buck! Too average for my palate!!!
Valentines disappointment! I am utterly disgusted by the service-level of OneNineOne. I made a reservation for Valentines as a surprise for my wife, reservations were made on the 6th Feb and confirmed by OneNineOne via SMS the same day. I called to confirm the booking at 18:18 on Valentines day, which a lady confirmed my booking and details (name, surname and cell). On arrival, the ‘so-called’ manager, Duma, received us and advised we did not have a booking. He then disgracefully dismissed us and in a disgusting manner, told us we did not follow process and pay a deposit as the other patrons did (how were we to know if we were not told to??). He then daringly told me I could not have confirmed the booking earlier at 18:18, as the lady who does the bookings leaves at 16:30, insinuating I am a liar! He then proceeded to ignore us as if we were second hand citizens. We then spoke to another manager named Troy, who managed to calm us down and told us there must have been a mistake on the bookings. He managed to get us a seating by the side table by the entrance, on the wall by the kitchen, which was not ideal considering the cost of the dinner, however we had no option elsewhere due it being Valentines and gave us a champagne as an apology. The waiters seemed everywhere and were all in different casual outfits however the food and presentations was good. During our meals, not once did Duma come past and apologise. We have never been treated with such disrespect by an establishment and will avoid this restaurant from now on.
With Christmas in the air, and jingles play all around, OneNineOne does it with style, the coffee is always good and espresso delightful, it definitely takes to the cravings. Oh yes the crowd is a bit grown up but well deserving, and with holidays in Johannesburg, it’s quiet yet cool, And just to mention the beer is cold which is great and if you get your smoke, on, the outside cigar lounge is fabulous.
I came for dinner during restaurant week. Wonderful decor and good service. The food was beautifully present. Although my meal was flavourful, some of the combinations didn’t work for me. Others however, really enjoyed their mains. The banana and koeksister dessert with Rooibos was amazing! It’s worth it to go just for that.
