We went the mere for late dinner- great service! We arrived just before the kitchen closed (we didn’t know) but they accommodated us. Generous tasty portions- sweet and sour chicken was great! Also try some Dim Sum. My favourite.
Shun De is amazing! I enjoyed every bite and found the food to be flavorful and delicious. I appreciated that the server gave suggestions as quite obviously my knowledge of the menu was limited – best no Hong Kong yum cha ever!
Personally I hate complaining about restaurants but Shun De used to be relatively good and very reasonably priced.. so I’m shocked to see prices literally tripling since my last visit. R200 for crispy chicken is an example and there’s nothing cheaper than R120.. and let’s not kid.. it’s Chinese food made very much on the cheap so justifying these prices is impossible. I will avoid that place like the plague.
Shun De serves truly delicious yum cha over the weekends. We arrived just before the lunch-time rush and snagged some absolutely delicious dim sum items. The service is pretty basic, with a bit of a do-it-yourself vibe. This didn’t detract from the experience at all. The food speaks loud and clear- delicious and authentic flavours don’t need frills and fancies to validate it.I would recommend the Siu Mai and Char Siu Bao. A pot of tea also goes down a treat, but there are many other drink options. Shun De is definitely worth it for the best dim sum around.
