Very light open and airy. First impressions are that it is clean, neat and tidy. While sitting there the restaurant filled up, making it a really lively spot, filled with animated conversation. Nice touch are the tremocos (pickled lupins) on the table as a snack – very tastily pickled in garlic. Really good with a cold beer.Very well prepared prawn rissoles. Prawns in a good creamy sauce, meat nice and firm. You can taste they are freshly made and not cooked from frozen.Had a kingklip in lemon butter sauce as a main. Very good – tasted fresh, meat nice and firm, subtly spiced and presented with crispy fried potato rounds and rice.Great value for money – highly recommended.

A hidden gem! The food is incredible! Went there for a relaxed Saturday lunch recently. We were given a delicious complimentary vegetable soup and authentic Portuguese rolls to start. For mains we ordered the beef espetada, the full chicken peri peri and the prawn and calamari combo. We had chips and milho frito as sides. The milho frito is tasty. The food is fresh, full of flavour and the portions are large. The value for money cannot be beaten.

Hospitality a Sao Vicente starts with a handshake greeting at the door from the proprietor. Friendly waiter Aurelio is a real pro – he explains specials, bringing complimentary hot soup on a cold day and making sure that you have enough hot chilli sauces to start a forest fire!I enjoyed the chilli chicken breast special served with crispy chips. Chicken was flattened, and was tender, well seasoned and generous – easy to recommend! This restaurant decor is not fancy but rather straightforward and bright, – Sao Vincente is hard to beat for taste, warmth and value. One of La Rochelle’s gems!

My first visit to Sao was 2 years ago, where I tried the pork and bean stew special, I think it is called Feijuada (not sure of the spelling). It tasted like an authentic Portuguese home cooked meal. 2 Years later I returned and tried their tuna salad special and I once again left feeling full in my tummy and not ripped off. The food gives me a nostalgic feeling of eating at my Portuguese friends house.

We were in Turffontein for the utterly terribly organised prawn festival – seeing as we were in the area we couldn’t leave without having prawns, thanks to zomato we found this gem of a resteraunt! Small and humble in appearance yet the yummiest food comes out the kitchen! The chicken rissoles were incredible, the espetada was the closest to the one you get at luzito land and the prawns were perfectly cooked! Puertogese beer available as well. Prices super reasonable.
