Extremely disappointed!!!Was so looking forward to revisiting wonderful great food memories of years gone by at this restaurant. My Lamb (that which I could find – bones were in plentiful supply) was tougher than leather, much of it totally inedible.Ridiculous price of R115 for pathetic excuse of a meal.Unbelievable – they charged an additional R30 for carrot & chutney condiments! What a pity, this restaurant used to be up with the best of Johannesburg curry eateries.Today’s experience ensures I will never return.
I used to love this place and sneak out of work for long Friday lunches especially the veg thali (the brinjal and butter beans used to be amazing). I ate there this weekend and the food was cold (like it was reheated) and didn’t taste anything like it used to. Has ownership changed?
The food used to be nice a while ago, today had the mutton bunny chow, the curry tasted like a stew, and was tasteless. Absolutely bland. The Bombay crush tasted like normal water, and samoosas were tasteless too. Never going back again. Not to mention ridiculously overpriced !
We love getting take out from Golden Peacock. The brinjal and butter bean curry is amazing ! It is quite hot though, be warned. We also tried a mutton bunny . As it was a take out , I removed bones From mutton at home. The bread was really fresh and it was a delicious dish. However I don’t get samoosas from them, rather go to World of Samoosas in the Plaza., definitely try the sweet coconut samoosa.
