A fairly average dining experience!!!The ambience at this restaurant was not the best. We had the mince samoosas, beef biryani, mutton curry, chicken curry and aloo paratha. The aloo paratha was amazing! The biryani was fragrant, rich and tasty. The mutton curry was nice. However, the chicken curry was a bit unusual and on the sweet side.Service was good with attentive waitering staff.
The Food Palace is a rather mediocre restaurant considering this is Fordsburg and aromatic food smells are wafting all over the streets of the night market. We were hoping for a more exciting curry to excite our taste buds. The Bombay crush (pink milkshake with chia seeds) was much yummier than some of the other ones I’ve tasted. So thumbs up for the Bombay crush and thumbs down for the curry. The food was probably better in the market.
The building looks pretty closed right now. Mohammed outside the restaurant told me that they are doing renovations. This place was referred to us by friends who had eaten there before. Hopefully they open soon so that we can try them out.
This unsurprising restaurant boasts a large menu, not unlike it’s competitors in Fordsburg of everything from hotdogs to indian curries. The decor is minimal and is definitely not for the fussy. The food is priced cheaply and the portions are large. The food itself is incredible, but the quality of meat is not always the best.Food is generally served piping hot and if it is not busy, in a timely manner. The meat here is also halaal, so they do not serve any pork or alcohol on the premises. You might not find a lot of alcohol in the surrounding areas as well, most of the clientele are muslim. This is definitely a family restaurant and great for those huge takeaway lunches at home.
