I recently attended a birthday party at the Mill Cafe. He hired out the small venue and we had one overly attentive waiter. The tables were sparkling with candlelight and golden brass accents. The whole night we all sipped on dry red wine, which kept away the cold. As you wait for your food, you smell rich aromas coming from the en suite kitchen. The host of the party selected his own menu for the evening. Starters were a pea soup with pesto and Crème fraîche. The pea taste bursts into your mouth, right after the pesto does. I am not the biggest fan of soup, but this one was divine. The main was a chicken korma curry with papadums and various sambals. It was spicy but not overpowering. We ended off the evening with a warm helping of berry crumble. Overall, it was a perfect dinner and setting for a winter evening.
