Whilst away on business I decided to take myself for an Indian treat at one of the top rated Indian restaurants! I ordered deep fried kale/spinach starter, salty lassi and a paneer dish. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The service was certainly five stars as the staff were all very friendly and I had a very enjoyable evening!
I used to rate this as my Favourite Indian restaurant in Johannesburg. After my last dining experience I’ve had to change my opinion. The ambience and service is great. The food? What has gone wrong We ordered the Punjabi chaat- the ratio of potatoes to toppings was completely off. Too much boiled potatoes. Mains next. The only highlight was the naan! Next was the paneer tikka masala. The sauce has a glutinous texture, almost like a sachet pre mix sauce. We ordered medium chili but this lacked taste. The paneer wasn’t even cut up. And not soft enough to break with the spoon its served with. The Tuver and spinach was excellent. The dinghri muttar should have just been called a peas curry. This also lacked flavor I certainly hope this was an off day.
